Job Posting – Rental Property Manager Trainee (Victoria)          

Do you have the desire to learn, a passion for property management and an enthusiasm for sales and growth? We are looking for an individual with strong interpersonal skills and a dynamic energy to develop within our organization into the role of licensed rental manager. During the first several months in the role, you will complete the licensing course through UBC Sauder School of Business, while also learning in a hands-on environment with your peers.

As an individual, you enjoy helping people and are genuinely motivated to make our community a great place to live. You are comfortable with shifting schedules and accommodate change graciously. You are also able to work effectively with other departments and individuals, respecting other people’s time lines and efforts, as they do for you. When challenges occur, you imagine creative solutions and are willing to consider other’s approaches. You take responsibility for your own actions and when a mistake is made, you learn from it and move forward.

Core Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensure regular communication with owners regarding their properties
  • Manage the operating expenses effectively
  • Monitor and inspect rental properties
  • Coordinate move-in and move-out inspections of rental properties in accordance with both company and statutory requirements
  • Respond to prospective tenant calls, show properties, respond to service/repair requests from tenants, and coordinate with maintenance/repair tradespersons
  • Coordinate the screening and approval of prospective tenants
  • Prepare all necessary documentation
  • Address tenant issues
  • Regularly communicate with owners and tenants regarding issues affecting the rented property
  • Develop new rental business to build the rental management portfolio
  • Participate in emergency on-call rotation
  • Encourage the development of a highly competent and well trained team by identifying personal training and development needs
  • Other duties as required

Experience & Qualifications

  • A valid driver’s license
  • A reliable, currently insured motor vehicle
  • Ability to manage people and situations gracefully
  • Ability to manage a number of tasks and prioritize effectively
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
  • Good working knowledge of office machines
